Conversation of the Day

Brielle had a "present" for Daddy.  She created this present by folding a wipe with nothing in it.  It just so happened that she decides to make this present right before bed time and must take it to her Daddy who was downstairs on a work call.  Brielle is a master at stalling!  :)

Daddy, I have a present for you.
Oh boy!
Hands Daddy her present (folded wipe).
What is it?  I don't see anything in here.
Daaaaaaddy, you have to pretend.
Ah, yes.  I see it!  What do you call it?
Um (thinking hard)...Boy jewelery!

Just what Grant always wanted!

First Movie

We went to our first movie tonight!  Grant and I were more excited than Brielle.  We saw Tangled at Cinema 6 in Independence.  $2 a ticket and Brielle was free!  We made it through the whole show but that was about our limit.  Brielle was eating snacks the whole time and very excited during different parts.  It was so cute to see her eyes get big and tell us something she noticed or thought.  I liked it when the main guy got punched and she yelled "ouch"!

Friday Night Out

It was a long week.  Brielle had strep, and we could not get her fever to go away.  Therefore, we were all ready for Friday night.  I had a school bowling night which was super fun, because a lot of the girls I work with have kids Brielle's age.  She loves hanging out with sweet Ava and adorable Alivia.  Then we met Grant at 54th Street for dinner.  Brielle was clearly tired at this point, but it was still a fun family night out!

Aren't they super cute?  Ava was a great smiler!

Girls night out!  Again, Ava rocks a cute smile!

Tired...Yes!  Eating chicken strips laying down.
It doesn't get much better right?

Spring Break Ends

We had a great time on spring break.  It was an awesome first big trip with our whole family.  The end of our trip had some ups and downs...

1.  We got to see Grant's cousin Noah, Kristina, Jack, and little baby Sam.  We had a blast eating dinner and catching up.  Jack wasn't so sure about us at first, but by the end of dinner Brielle and Jack were running around together.  Baby Sam was adorable.  We can't wait to see them in June for the family reunion!

2.  Brielle got Rachel to play a big game of hide and seek.  She was so excited to play a kid's game.  I think Brielle will be very excited to play with kids her age next week.

3.  Mizzou lost.  Bummer.

4.  Late Thursday night we decided to head back to Denver because of snow heading toward Breckenridge.  It had already started snowing, so traveling was terrible.  I was extremely scared to say the least.  We did make it.  Thank goodness.

5.  Plane ride back was really easy and Brielle was super funny.  She was making friends wherever she went, which isn't normally like her.  She is typically shy, but today she was waving at everyone.

6.  Last and most random spring break event:  So we were waiting for the blue bus, because it takes you to the economy parking.  Brielle was jumping up and down and shouting, "The blue (bwue - even though she can say her l's - we are in a weird baby talk phase - I hope it ends soon) bus!  The blue (bwue) bus!  The blue bus!"  This guy walks by and says that's a national ad right there.  I smiled politely not knowing exactly what he was talking about.  We keep waiting and he is standing a little further down the sidewalk.  Finally the blue bus arrives, and he walks back to us.  He gives us his girlfriend's business card, tells us he is from LA, and that we should contact her.  He said she caught his eye and brightened his day.  Hmmm...what a funny way to end the trip.

We are glad to be home, but sad that spring break is over!  It was an AWESOME trip!

Spring Break Day Five

I got to ski with my parents and Uncle Bart while Grant and Uncle Jay took Brielle to the Breckenridge Children's Museum.  I was so pumped to ski, grabbed my boots, and got dropped off at Peak 7.  I thought my left boot felt a little roomy, but I would just need to readjust up top.  Little did I know, but I completely grabbed the wrong boot.  I think it was Grant's boot.  How could I make that mistake?  Needless to say I spent the first hour and half waiting on someone to get my boot and bring it to me.  Luckily, Jay saved me.  I had a great day of skiing with my parents and Uncle Bart.  Grant and Jay took Brielle to the Breckenridge Children's Museum which is a lot like Paradise Park.  She really enjoyed the fake snow which actually felt  cold.  She was convinced it was real snow.  There was a bear cave, but apparently she was too scared to go in.  :)  She would go up to the cave and stick her toe in.  Then yell "No! No!" and run out.  Grant, Jay, and Brielle also took the Gondola to Peak 8 and enjoyed some hot chocolate.  What a fun day!

First dress-up outfit of the day!

Here is as close as she got to going into the bear cave.

Gondola ride to get some hot chocolate.

Cool magnet area that she loved.  I think Grant loved it just as much!

Playing pool with Grant.  She knew how to put them in the "triangle".  She actually really got into playing pool.  How funny!

Posing with Grandma and Papa on the tricky spiral staircase.  Thanks for a fun week Grandma and Papa!  We loved it!

Spring Break Day Five

I finally got to ski yesterday!  Grandma and Papa watched Brielle while Grant and I went skiing.  Brielle enjoyed sledding and hunting for bears.  She also enjoyed her own hot chocolate.

Brielle is so proud of making her own hot chocolate.  Again in her underwear...at least she has a shirt on.

Here's a good shot of her braids that grandma did everyday.

Spring Break Day Four

Breckenridge has been a blast so far!  Brielle and I went sledding yesterday after getting skis in the morning.  Brielle has enjoyed being the center of attention since she is the only person under 25.  She is very good at imagining games for us to play.  She also has no problem giving directions to adults so they know how to play her game.
Brielle is getting her hair done by grandma everyday (pictures tomorrow).  Papa is teaching her how to play pool and hunt for bears.

Here are some fun pics from the last two days:

Worn out from all of the fun!

Spring Break Day Three

We made it to Breckenridge tonight.  We had a great day hanging out in Boulder with Aunt Tiffany, Uncle Jay, Aunt Jill, and Uncle Scott.  We ate at a fantastic Mediterranean restaurant called The Med.  It was delicious.  Brielle's kid meal could have served an adult easily.  Then we painted pottery at a cute pottery place in downtown Boulder.  Brielle chose a butterfly for her room.  It is quite the piece of art!  She was very excited to paint and informed me of the directions the lady had given to her.  I made something for her room.  Right now it's a square, but I hope to turn it into a masterpiece.  We were very sad to say goodbye to Aunt Tiffany, Uncle Scott, and Aunt Jill.  See you in St. Lucia this summer!

It's time to get some sleep so we can hit the slopes tomorrow.  Snow is falling so I'm hoping for some good powder!

Spring Break Day Two

We had a great day today!  We spent a lot of time with our family.  Brielle got to go to the park too.  Here are a few pics.

Hanging out naked with Uncle Scott and Aunt Jill.  Who doesn't want to join this party?

Avery Brewing Company in Boulder.  We took the tour and sampled some tasty drinks.

We went to Runway Grill for lunch.  It was at a really small airport, so this was our view from the table.  The planes were fun, however Brielle was more interested in taking everybody's order like the waitress.  We might have a new career path.

Spring Break Day One

We made it to Colorado today!  We had to get up at 4:15.  Brielle has been sleeping poorly due to her recent cold, but she woke up at 5:00 very chipper.  She wore her pajamas to the airport, which Grant thought was appalling.   However, I pointed out that you might as well wear pajamas to the airport while you are still cute and can get away with it.  Trust me, I would wear pajamas if I could.  Thanks to Sarah Lillie, I might just invest in some pajama jeans for our next trip.
Brielle did a good job on her first flight.  I was extremely nervous because of her cold, coughing, etc.  She was getting a little antsy at the end, but other than that she did great.  Grant's brother picked us up from the airport.  It's good to be here with family!
So far today we:
1.  Saw Uncle Jay and Aunt Tiffany's house for the first time.
2.  Saw the Google Boulder building where Uncle Jay works.
3.  Shopped and saw cool street performers in downtown Boulder (Pearl Street).
4.  Ate at Casa Bonita in Denver.

Here's some pics from a great first day!

Early morning is rough....for me, not Brielle.

Waiting for our bags with her cute frog backpack from Uncle Jake and Aunt Samantha.

Uncle Scott climbing the rock wall in the Google office.  Must be terrible to work there.  :)

Pearl Street human dog.  Brielle also liked the street drummer and was shakin' her booty.

She enjoyed climbing and sliding down the rocks.

Adorable pig outside of an amazing store called Paper Dolls.

Casa Bonita - I guess there is a South Park reference here.  I do not like South Park, but went along for the ride.  There were some amazing divers.  It was more like a theme park than a restaurant.

We had to get a light-up wand.  By this time we were getting no more smiles from Brielle.  It had been a very long day.

Conversation of the Day

Brielle and I were eating breakfast together this morning.  She LOVES muffins, so Grant bought her some mini blueberry muffins at the store.  She thinks they are the greatest thing in the world!
She finished one of the packages this morning and started talking about needing more muffins.  Then she said this:

If you need more, you can buy some at the store!
Hey, that's a rhyme.  I just made a rhyme.

Momma was impressed!
