Small Moments Take Your Breath Away

We found out our friend has a tumor on her brain today.  She is our age, so it is even more shocking and real.  However, that is not the point of this story.  We hope and pray everything will be ok.

I came up to read with Brielle and Grant tonight.
Mommy?  Mommy?  Mommy?
I'm coming.
Do you want to make shadows?  Please?  - She is in bed, but still stalling!
Ok.  Let's make shadows.
We can make ducks or hands.  Like this.  - She fashions her hand into a little mouth.  I think she is going to angle it so we see the mouth moving on the wall like we have done before.  However...
Quack!  Quack!  Quack!  Quack!  - She is quacking loudly and moving her hand all around in the air.
Now eat the bread!  Crunch..crunch..crunch (eating bread sounds).
Then she is giggling and laughing at herself.

I was giggling and laughing too.  I would have never been laughing and giggling tonight if it wasn't for our sweet girl.  She makes the smallest moments take your breath away.
How much more fun life is with you Brielle!

Scary Day

We had a scary day today.  Brielle's teacher from school called me at work today.  She fell behind the swings.  The teachers didn't see her fall, but they watched her get up.  She was crying, having trouble walking, lethargic, and her eyes were fluttering.  Ms. Vicki was worried that she hit her head or that she fell because she had low blood sugar or had a seizure.  Grant got her and took her to Children's Mercy as instructed by our pediatrician.  Children's Mercy monitored her for four hours, but she showed no signs of low blood sugar or a seizure.  We decided not to get a CT scan, because she wasn't showing any signs of severe head trauma.  At any rate, we are home now.  She is acting like herself again and appears to be fine.  We hope and pray it was just a strange incident, and that she's ok.  Since we had to wait in the hospital for several hours, Grant said it reminded him of when she was born.  However, we were excited to be at the hospital on that day!

Kite Flying Fun

Grant and Brielle went to the Long View Kite Festival.  It was a bitter cold spring morning, so they watched a few kites, bought a new kite, and headed home.  Here are a few pics from later that day in our backyard

First Ice Cream Cone

Brielle doesn't like ice cream.  Can you believe it?  However, we ate at Jason's Deli the other night and she actually ate an ice cream cone!  We did take some of the ice cream on top off, but she ate the whole cone with ice cream inside.  Grant and I are so proud - Grant especially.

Look at that proud (and dirty) face!  Good job Cute Stuff!

Easter Egg Hunt

We had our neighborhood Easter egg hunt last Sunday.  Brielle had so much fun!  She was super excited and giddy to see all of the eggs and kids.  It was a great day!  Her favorite part was the Easter bunny.

Waiting patiently

The joy of finding an egg!
I like the face and position of the dad I caught behind her.  :)

Game face on!

Loved the giant Easter eggs!

Look who is behind you Brielle.

What was your favorite part of the Easter egg hunt Brielle?
Sitting on the Easter Bunny's lap!  That's a first!

Walking home from the hunt.  What fun!

2 Year Old Fashion

Brielle is a big fan of picking her own clothes.  I have tried to be ok with this and just ignore the obvious and praise her creativity.  Today she picked a cheer leading outfit that hits just below her butt.  She also picked her fancy white shoes that are too small.  I convinced her to wear capris, and Grant convinced her that tights (yes over the capris) would just be too hot for today.  She is hysterical!

Here's a GREAT outfit from Monday.  MANY strangers told her how nice she looked.  I just smiled and nodded.  :)

Friends

Miss Julie says that Brielle is making more and more friends everyday.  Brielle told me her best friend was Olivia when I took her on Thursday.  Then she told Grant her best friends were two other people after school.  I love that she has "best friends".

Her best buddy John made her this adorable get well sign a few weeks ago when she had strep.  What a cutie!  She also wants to buy John some big boy shoes, because she plans on selling (yes - selling) her younger friends Reece and Brooklyn her old shoes that don't fit.  I thought that she discussed this with Grant, but apparently she is an entrepreneur and decided she would sell her old shoes on her own.  However, she doesn't have big boy shoes, so we need to get some for John.
 Sharing jelly beans with friends!

She went to Henry's dinosaur birthday party last Saturday.  Let's just say I have never seen a more timid pinata attempt in my life.  She didn't have a nap, and she is scared of dinosaurs.  All of these factors did not help her shyness and weak swing.  In fact, she SLOWLY walked to the pinata and tapped the side.  Luckily the kid before her broke it, and she did get a piece of candy to fall.  We were so glad Henry liked his dinosaur figures, and we had a blast despite all previously mentioned items!
