Border War

Thanksgiving with my family started Friday afternoon when my mom, dad, Jake, and Samantha arrived.  We ate dinner together, played games, hung mirrors, and sliced a lot of vegetables.  Samantha was again Brielle's favorite.  Aunt Samantha played babies for hours and changed what seemed like hundreds of diapers.  It was comical how quickly the babies needed their diapers changed.  Luckily Grant developed a diaper cleaning machine.  That saved lots of time and money.  :)  The guys went out that night, so Brielle wanted Aunt Samantha and ONLY Aunt Samantha to get her ready for bed and put her to bed.  As soon as the last book was read, Brielle started to realize that no Mommy or Daddy reading to her is very different.  Alas, I was called upstairs to finish the bedtime routine.  Pretty cute.  Samantha stayed up with me while I sliced vegetables for the fish fry.  I recalled why I detest cooking food that requires a lot of preparation.

We all went to the bitterly cold game while my mom stayed home with Brielle.  The first half was atrocious.  Luckily, the Tigers had a much better 2nd half.  We won!  Go Tigers!  We saw one of Grant's great buddies from college and his wife.  He hasn't seen Chris since his wedding.  It was fun chatting during the 2nd half.  I also saw 2 sorority sisters I haven't seen in a long time.  On the way out, we ran into Hilary (another sorority sister and more importantly bridesmaid) and Jeremy.  They were able to come to the house for the fish fry.

Jake and my dad once again out did themselves with their delicious fish.  We were blessed to have so many friends and family.  Brielle was extra thrilled that Hudson and Henry were able to come over.  The kids roasted many marshmallows, chased each other in the dark, drank Capri Suns (Hudson and Henry's first time),  chased each other in the dark a little more, tried the fish, and watched TV.  Brielle was even allowed to sleep in our bed that night.  Wow!  What a special night!

Hopefully, there will be another Border War next year.  Probably not with Kansas, but who?  When?  We love having our family and friends here over the holidays!
